Recognition

Publications, products and people from across the company were publicly recognised last year for the contribution they make to society, with our journals, books, digital solutions and writers winning a wide range of awards.

In 2007 no fewer than seven Elsevier publications were honoured by the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers. These titles included the Encyclopedia of Respiratory Medicine, Exploring Engineering and Forensic Nursing.

LexisNexis won the Endeca Navigator Award for innovative, pioneering applications and the Software & Information Industry Association’s Codie Award.

Titles from Reed Business also picked up a number of important awards including the Association of Online Publishers top award. Computer Weekly won Editorial Campaign of the Year for its ground-breaking investigation into the UK National Health Service National Programme for IT.

Dr Richard Horton – editor of The Lancet – won a prestigious Edinburgh Medal, an award given to men and women judged to have made an outstanding contribution to the understanding and well-being of humanity. Lisa Cross, senior editor of Graphic Arts Monthly, won the Tom McMillan Award for Editorial Excellence, a distinction given to the writer exhibiting the highest standards of journalistic integrity and professionalism.

These awards are incredibly important to Reed Elsevier. They indicate that our products and our people are highly valued in society.
